Starting in February 2006, Oliver Brothers, Inc will
join forces with C.R.
Dixon & Associates to provide a Remote Sensing service
for golf courses. Oliver Brothers, Inc has spent the
past year developing a process to give you a handle on your
turf's health. We call it The Sweep (pat.
pending)!
|
| |
|
In conducting The Sweep (pat. pending),
we will attach our infrared sensors to your mowers and train
your drivers to mow with a sensor attached. Then, in the time
it takes for you to get all of your holes mowed, you will have
information on your problem areas: their locations and sizes! |
| |
|
We will provide you with maps of your holes based on NDVI
values (NDVI measures the reflectance health of turf). These
values will be broken into 7 classes of health compared to turf
of the same areas (Fairway 2 vs. all other fairways). This allows
you prioritize your problem areas. Learn
more about NDVI. |
|
|
|
We will then ground truth these areas with you or a member of
your staff. We will record geo-spatial information on the lowest
classes with photography, moisture content, EC, and compaction
data. When finished, you will be given a book containing the
imagery and information acquired, and recommendations on how
to combat the various problems encountered. |
| |
|
This process will afford you the means to concentrate your resources
where they will have the greatest effect, and lead you towards
the goal of precision agriculture on your golf course! |
